When trying to choose the best eye shadow, there are a few things to keep in mind. One thing that you will want to decide on before hand is whether you want to find the perfect color according to your eye color, skin tone, or both. Many people are under the false impression that they should match their eye shadow color to the color of their eyes. This can actually be detrimental.
If you have the rare grey eyes, and are looking to find a good eye shadow based on your eye color, you will want to look at purples, cool (not warm) browns, and charcoal. This is one of the hardest eye colors to choose makeup for.
With blue eyes, you will want to focus on warm browns, peaches, and taupes. Stay away from blue eye shadow, as well as purples, when you have blue eyes. These colors will compete with your eyes for the most prominent.
If you have brown eyes (which is most common), you are able to use any color you are interested in. In this case, you will want to consider your skin tone before making a final choice on an eye shadow color.
For those with hazel and green eyes, you have a wide variety of options. Almost everything will work for you, but focus on golden brown, both deep and soft purples, taupe, and peaches. Again, you might want to focus on your skin tone a little more to find the perfect color or shade for you.
When choosing a new eye shadow, think about when and where you plan to wear it. If it is for a business office, you may not want it to be as flashy as if you are planning to wear it out to a club. Keep in mind the style that you are going for.
